What is the A Harmonic Major Scale?
The harmonic major scale is a regular major scale with a lowered 6th degree (♭6), which injects a surprising dark twist into an otherwise bright tonality. It's less common than harmonic minor but appears in film scoring and advanced jazz harmony whenever a composer wants "major but unsettled."
