The Kumoi scale is a Japanese pentatonic scale with a delicate, contemplative sound that originates from koto music of the Edo period. Its gentle blend of minor 2nd and major intervals creates a wistful, introspective mood that works beautifully for clean-tone passages, ambient textures, and any time you want an Eastern-tinged melodic voice.
