Mixolydian is the fifth mode of the major scale, and its ♭7 gives it a sound that sits right between major and blues — bright but with a groove. It's the secret ingredient in classic rock rhythm parts, Grateful Dead jams, and any major-key riff that wants to feel relaxed rather than resolved. The fifth mode - major with a flat 7th. Dominant and bluesy. On bass, this scale becomes a toolkit for strong roots, passing tones, and melodic fills that still support the groove. Think in root-on-E and root-on-A boxes, then adapt the same notes for 5-string bass when the low B string gives you another root below the pattern. In the key of G, the notes are: G, A, B, C, D, E, F.

How to Use It
