What is the Eb Ionian Mode?

The Ionian mode is musically identical to the major scale, but thinking of it as the first of seven modes opens the door to a completely different way of navigating the fretboard. When you treat Ionian as one color in a palette of seven, you start hearing how each mode creates its own mood over the same set of notes. Here's how the Eb Ionian Mode lays out on the fretboard. This scale is enharmonically equivalent to D# Ionian.
